Site Introduction
“Cocoa Yami Chocolate Manor” is dedicated to building a Taiwanese “From Tree to Bar” chocolate farmer brand.
Introduction
The owner, Zhong Xiaoyong, insists on cultivating cocoa trees using eco-friendly, chemical-free methods. Cocoa trees thrive in semi-shaded environments, and areca palms provide the ideal shade to support early growth. Over time, the manor has established a complete cocoa supply chain—from front-end retail to back-end production—integrating production, tourism, education, and retail.
The site features a retail shop, experience classrooms, cocoa bean fermentation areas, indoor drying facilities, and chocolate processing lines. Visitors are immersed in the universal language of desserts—chocolate—through both sight and taste.

To promote agri-food education, the manor began transforming in 2020 from primary cocoa production into secondary chocolate processing and tertiary agritourism experiences. Zhong notes that Pingtung’s cocoa beans, coffee beans, fermented products, vanilla, Liudui black pigs, and bluefin tuna all share a similar “dark” characteristic, forming a “black gold industry” with high added value and strong terroir stories. Through experiential farming transformation, the manor aims to promote industries, market products, and foster alliances in the “black cuisine” trend.
Speaking of future vision, Zhong says: “Eco-friendly production, natural ecology, and a beautiful life—this is our ultimate goal.”
Features of Agricultural Tourism
Coco
Some cocoa in Taiwan originates from seeds brought back by farmers from Southeast Asia in the 1970s. Combined with unrealized cocoa ambitions from the Japanese era, nearly a century later, cocoa trees in Pingtung have developed a unique local identity. The island’s climate—high temperatures, heavy rainfall, typhoons, and cold fronts—creates distinctive flavor layers in Pingtung chocolate.
“Cocoa Yami Chocolate Manor” offers a variety of products, including pure dark chocolate, flavored dark chocolate, Taiwanese cocoa tea, cocoa nuts, and cocoa egg rolls.
In agri-food education, hands-on experiences help visitors understand chocolate flavors. Among baking workshops, one of the most popular activities is the “Cocoa Egg Roll DIY,” where visitors use professional egg roll machines and premium ingredients to easily create delicious treats.
