Located in the Jiujiu Peaks mountain area of Nantou, JOJOZOO Park covers approximately 21 hectares. Currently, the first phase of 12 hectares is developed, featuring 12 themed areas. The park houses nearly 120 species and thousands of animals and birds, making it one of the largest bird-themed parks in Asia. The founder, Yu Chia-fu, originally a chairman in the manufacturing industry, fulfilled a childhood dream born from the lack of zoos in central Taiwan. In collaboration with a professional team from Jurong Bird Park in Singapore and after three years of preparation, the park officially opened in 2022 to provide a natural space for education and animal welfare.
Introduction
The park’s planning centers on ecological education, combining animal-friendly practices, environmental sustainability, and conservation. Large walk-in aviaries, such as the Big Bird Nest, Parrot Forest, Water World, and the Octagonal Aviary, are designed based on avian habits. Using a semi-free-range management style, birds can fly and perch freely in spacious environments that mimic the wild. This design philosophy earned the “Special Award” in the Best Planning and Design category at the 2023 FIABCI-Taiwan Real Estate Excellence Awards, recognizing its achievement in balancing landscape with ecology.

In the popular “Parrot Forest,” colorful Sun Conures often take the initiative to land on visitors’ shoulders, arms, or heads, creating natural and cute interactions. Inside the aviaries, visitors can observe flamingos and pelicans strolling nearby and see the Grey Crowned Crane—the national bird of Uganda in East Africa—wandering gracefully. Scheduled guided tours and feeding experiences allow visitors of all ages to learn about avian ecology while having fun.
Characteristics
Livestock
Beyond birds, the park features a “Cute Animal Area” with meerkats, capybaras, alpacas, ponies, and donkeys. The environment is clean, and the animals appear at ease. Through feeding and interactive experiences, children learn to respect life while playing. The park also offers diverse dining options, ranging from local snacks to international cuisine, catering to the needs of family travelers.
In terms of sustainability, JOJOZOO Park recycles animal waste into organic fertilizer and treats wastewater for irrigation and fish farming. It also houses a wildlife rescue station. This is more than just an amusement park; it is a dedicated natural agritourism site for families to explore and protect life.
