Introduction
Taiwan joined the WTO over 20 years ago, and rice farming was halted. The Huang family happened to have an underground natural spring. The water was clear, so they used this natural resource to try to breed clams, at the same time operating a leisure farm to let tourists experience the fun of clam-touching.
“Clam Farm” uses its own spring water and the surrounding environment to give the farm its own style, and has done a good job of managing it.
The highlight on the farm is to touch clams in the water, step into the cold spring pool in the mud. To make full use of your senses, one must not only see but also use the sense of touch to its full potential. In the shallow pool, you can do rafting while standing and experience the fun.
After the activities, it’s time for the kiln-baked feast. The kiln was developed by Mr. Huang Qionglin himself. The guinea fowl is put into the kiln and grilled directly over fire. Underneath it are the ingredients such as mushrooms, garlic, bamboo shoots, etc. The oil from the roasted chicken drips down and becomes chicken soup. It can be served with noodles or drunk on its own. The taste is rich and fragrant. Sweet potatoes and eggs are also baked in the same way within the kiln. After the kiln is covered with an iron plate, fish and yam flavored salted pork can be grilled. Mr Huang developed this dish himself and has applied for a special trademark.
Features of Agricultural Tourism
Fish Farming
Huang Qionglin says that the venue is not big or luxurious, but that is not as important compared with the experience. Tourists experience fishing and touching clams, kiln-roasted meals are handled via radio roll call, allowing guests to carry it themselves. In addition to saving manpower, it makes the guests very happy, because it makes them feel important when their name is mentioned on the radio roll call.
It doesn’t matter if you don’t manage to touch clams in the water. Even if all you got is clam shells, you can exchange them for candy.
The farm is small, but the surrounding environment is rich in ecology. Walk to the seaside to find another ecological classroom. You can catch crabs between the rocks by the seaside, watch the sunset by the windmil, and come back to rest when you are tired.
