Introduction
Huang Li-Yun is the owner of the farm. She was a preschool teacher when she was younger. Returning to her hometown with her husband, four generations of family have lived here. Her youngest son is disabled so she could no longer stay in her job. She instead looked after her son and confronted people’s reactions with love and tolerance. When often found herself depressed, but found an excellent cure. She spent six years acquiring licenses for essential oil and handmade soaps. She found a way to teach again.
When a leisure agricultural park was established in Xihai, Taoyuan, her dream turned bigger. Dadai Farm was then built with the hope of spreading happiness and to heal people. The plants the tourists can see here are useful; either for medical use or are edible. Visitors here can first taste fresh herbal tea and then find ingredients in “Grandma’s Vegetable Farm.” They can then create their work freely in the green land, taking in the fragrance, making soaps and taking their creations home with them.

Tourists can experience the happiness of making things on their own by making a beautiful macaron “portable soap.”
Huang Li-Yun says that all plants are cultivated through natural farming. The most famous DIY activity is the “calla lily soap” and features in every “Calla Lily Festival,” popular among both officials and tourists. Huang Li-Yun has to make bentonite two months in advance with simple ingredients, oil, water and alkali. It should be taken to an incubator first and then colors added to it. The colorful bentonite can be molded by tourists. The colorful calla lilies of various sizes reflect the characteristics of the place. Fragrant soap can be taken home as a souvenir. It’s easy to see why it’s so popular.
Due to the epidemic, the Calla Lily Festival was suspended in 2020. Huang Li-Yun came up with the idea to release “macaron shape” soap balls. The colorful macarons are put in the transparent balls of key rings and turned into beautiful “portable soaps.” Huang Li-Yun said that she enjoys it when people give her tests as she likes coming up with answers. Therefore, many facilities and companies have asked her to make customized products. This is one of the reasons why the farm provides so many DIY activities for tourists to choose from.
