Dongshan Food & Agricultural Creative Park
Dongshan Food & Agricultural Creative Park is located near the Dongshan Railway Station, just a two-minute walk away.
Introduction
Its core consists of several repurposed old granaries from the Dongshan Township Farmers’ Association. The exterior walls are adorned with warm, traditional rural scenes and cute cat motifs, blending traditional culture with modern aesthetics.
The park is designed around a “BAR” theme, divided into areas such as Buy BAR, Eat BAR, Learn BAR, Play BAR, Tea BAR, and Plant BAR. Additionally, the “Talk BAR,” located in a former health clinic, offers tea arts and local Suxin tea snacks. As a hub for local revitalization and young farmer education, the park was honored with the Ministry of Agriculture’s first National Food and Farming Education Outstanding Contribution Award in 2025.
Features of Agricultural Tourism
Rice
- Rice Education: The park promotes locally contracted Pandan Fragrant Rice. In the “Learn BAR,” visitors can use micro-milling machines to see husks turn into white rice or join workshops to make colorful rice balls using natural dyes.
- Circular Agriculture: The “Plant BAR” (No-Bend Farm) demonstrates resource regeneration. “Xiao-Gua’s Carbonization Base” turns waste rice husks into biochar for soil improvement, while “Earthworm Boxes” decompose food waste into fertilizer.
- Farm-to-Table: The “Fish and Rice Fragrance” rural kitchen guides visitors to harvest herbs and vegetables to make rice balls and seafood pancakes.
