In the past, fishery experiences were mostly based on fish farming. The Fish Bar will introduce the schools of fish that migrate around Taiwan due to transoceanic migration or spawning. The migration of these marine organisms has special significance for humans and the environment. Through the connection of fish, we hope that more people can embrace the seas and more young people would ‘migrate’ back to their hometowns.
The importance of fishing methods is critical to the sustainability of marine resources. Huang Wen-Chi explained that no fishing method is necessarily better than another. In addition to fixed nets in Qixingtan Bay, there are longline fishing and one-hook fishing. These are relatively friendly fishing methods and are a form of passive fishing. The fish are hooked or swim in by themselves. Active captures done by nets and trawls is different, and bottom dragging can even destroy coral reef fishes and habitats.
