Introduction
Not far from Taoyuan Daxi Old Street is the “Kin Shins Orchids” of Yuemei, where tens of thousands of orchids are neatly placed on approximately 2,000 Square meter large greenhouse. Walking in is like strolling through a beautiful large garden.
First-generation orchard owner, Li Xunyang, and his wife, Li Jian Amei, devoted themselves to cultivating orchids after their marriage. They started from a 6 square-meter greenhouse in 1972, and from 1982 till today, the greenhouse and open area has grown to encompass more than 3,000 of square meters, and is recognized by industry insiders as the pioneer of orchid breeding, contributing heavily to the Taiwan orchid industry. In 1986, Li Xunyang was bestowed the “Top Ten Outstanding Farmers” award, and in 2003, Li Jian Amei was awarded the “Outstanding Shennong Farm Woman Award” by the Agricultural Committee.
The only product of Kin Shins Orchids is orchids, with Phalaenopsis being the largest, but also include Dendrobium, Baosui orchid, Cattleya orchid and so on. Li Jian Amei states that she has always cultivated cheap orchids, hoping that everyone can afford them. Now, the Orchid Garden is moving towards ornamental orchids, and is still dominated by Phalaenopsis. Hundreds of Phalaenopsis are present at any time, and they are matched with orchids of different seasons. In the 1990s, the farm switched to a focus on ornamental gift orchids.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs often bring foreign guests to visit the orchard, and the orchard has seen foreign guests from Solomon, El Salvador and Nicaragua. Now Kin Shins Orchids is jointly run by the family, Li Jian Amei, her children, and daughter-in-law divide the labor, focusing on flower management, marketing business and product packaging respectively.

Kin Shins Orchids produces flowers throughout the year. Orchids are in full bloom throughout the four seasons. You can enter the garden for free throughout the year regardless of season, and pick from a variety of potted orchids plants for sale on-site. In order to promote orchid art, in recent years an orchid sketching experience activity has been developed to allow tourists to experience orchid art for a reasonable price, so that orchids are not just flower decorations for gifts, but also a fun activity for parents and children. Orchid education can be popularized through the DIY process.
In order to improve the exquisiteness of potted orchids and customizable services, Orchid Garden has launched an orchid assembling program. Visitors can stroll around the orchard, pick the containers they like or bring their own, then select the orchids and shrubs of their liking, and the florists will assemble and price them on the spot.
