Introduction

Making a turn along Xindian Wulai Landscape Road, tourists can see New Taipei City Wen Sun Farm about 21 ha. large. The Tea Guidance Association was established during the Japanese Colonial Period; an important place to grow seedlings and teach people tea-making skills, mainly Paochong Tea at that time. Today, Wen Sun Farm remains a place to pass on Taiwan tea culture.
Wensun Farm emphasizes the importance of environmental protection and has no longer used chemical fertilizers and pesticides since 1998. From 2017 on, it has fully engaged in organic cultivation and obtained certification for an organic tea garden. After stopping the use of pesticides, balance returned the soil and the farm began to grow vigorously. Birds came back, blue magpies were often seen; and around 13 species of frogs thrive on the farm.

Eight species of fireflies can be seen in Wensun Farm, including terrestrial black-winged fireflies and aquatic yellow-margin fireflies. Because the farm has rehabilitated its habitat for many years and occupies a large area, it is known as the largest firefly viewing spot in northern Taiwan. Every April and May, the organic tea garden and the luminescence on the forest trail creates a beautiful landscape in Wenshan Farm.

Features of Agricultural Tourism

Tea

After developing into a leisure farm, the farm took the initiative to promote tea culture, passing on the production method of Wenshan Paochong Tea at the tea factory. Visitors pick and make tea with bamboo hats on their heads and tea baskets on their back to truly experience life on a real tea farm.

Through a guided tour on tea-making, tourists learn how Paochong Tea is produced. First, the farmer picks one tip, two leaves. Next, the tea leaves are dried in the sunlight and hot air. Then, they are put away and stirred for indoor withering. The tea leaves are then blanched, rolled, separated, dried, baked and finally Paochong Tea is rolled into a ball-shape and wrapped with cloth.

Tea culture experience activities include a tea-making forum. As well as trying different types of teas, tourists can learn how to make good tea. Children enjoy DIY activities and can make tea jelly or tea fagao. They not only have fun but learn how to make delicious food.
