Introduction

Ruanpikeng Leisure Agricultural Area, established nearly 20 years ago, is one of those farms in Dongshi. Its major irrigation source is the Ruanpikeng River, which surrounds the mountainous region. Centered at Yuqing Temple, the religious center of the local Hakka people, the place is a simple rural village with fruit trees everywhere. The trees full of sweet pears, persimmons, and citrus fruits are a feast to the eyes. Every fruit harvest season, the Farm is full of laughter. Adults and children walk around the orchard, picking fruit they like with a pair of farm scissors. During firefly season, visitors can see glittering yellow and green lights at night and enjoy wonderful and thriving rural life.
The Ruanpikeng Leisure Agricultural Area has an abundant eco-system and grows a variety of fruits. Lovevale Tourism Orchard grows citrus fruits, including tankans, guavas, sweet tangerines, Malay Glycosmis, persimmons, lemons, and rarely seen sweet oranges, Apollo oranges, and other special kinds of oranges. Grandpa’s park grows over 10 kinds of blueberries. Visitors can explore the natural environment and enjoy the beauty of the rural villages.

Features of Agricultural Tourism

Fruits

To share the delicious food of rural villages, this area produces many kinds of processed goods. Emphasizing a preservative- and artificial additive-free concept, the products are made manually in the most natural way. These products represent how farmers in the past preserved all kinds of hard-earned food when food was scarce. From these products, visitors can understand the sources of food, as well as how precious food is, which will inspire them to cherish food and waste less. Food and agriculture education activities are also provided. Visitors can pick fruit from the orchard and make delicious dishes or desserts with the fruit they just picked.

Shoulang Yam Ecology Classroom provides various DIY cloth dyeing activities. Visitors can squeeze juice from the local produce to dye clothes and design patterns they like. They can also experience Hakka food DIY and feast on local cuisines at Yunzhuan Leisure Garden Restaurant. The Area has everything from entertainment to delicious food.
