The farmers pave a thick layer of straw over the field to support sprouting shallots, keep them warm, retain moisture and to prevent weeds from growing.
The farm provides tourists with Sanxing shallots to make shallot pancakes using only the most delicate part of the shallots, the “one-tip two leaves”. The shallot pancake tastes particularly sweet and delicious. The vibrant colour found in the pancake use natural vegetable and fruit juice.
Shallots are handled manually thus very time consuming. Many of the excellent quality Sanxing shallots are ordered by restaurants in advance. A visit to the Sanxing Shallots farm is a must with beautiful scenery surrounded by mountain and sea. On a bright sunny day, you can even see Guishan Island.
