Introduction
There is a “Wulong Palm Theater Troupe” in Yunlin, and a Wulong coffee shop in Tainan. They are equally well-known in their respective industries. The master behind the scenes is Li Zhouxian, a renowned puppet master. He has been practicing martial arts since he was a child, and was addicted to coffee in his youth. With the full support of his wife Chen Xiaoping, he turned his livelihood and interests into a brilliant and inseparable combination.
Since its inception in 2008, Wulong coffee B&B only grows Typica and only uses water to wash beans, and enjoys a never-ending wave of returning customers. People who come here can experience ecological tours, coffee brewing, puppet dancing, and participate in a full range of special agricultural tours. Bake bucket chicken and pineapple tarts are delicious pastries not to be missed.
The owner, Li Zhouxian, fell in love with coffee when he was 30 years old. He drank so much that it gave him gastroesophageal reflux. To maintain the balance between workers and farmers, he worked diligently going up and down the mountain to ensure the continuation of traditional skills. It only took him five years to hone the power of coffee, and realized his dream of opening a store in 2008.
He swept three championship awards in the Dongshan Coffee Festival in 2010. He was pleased to have made a name for himself, but his field was soon besieged by a strange typhoon, decimating the crops and leaving behind nothing but the roof.
Fortunately there is always light at the end of the tunnel. His award-winning coffee attracted buyers from Japan and Hong Kong, and he sold out his stock. The timely fortune helped him rise up again, improving his unique farming methods, implementing more eco-friendly land management, and used enzymes to control diseases and insect pests. Li Zhouxian revealed that the secret to good quality lies in sprinkling water at night, thereby increasing the temperature difference between day and night, misdirecting the coffee plant into changing its original bitterness. The coffee beans are air-dried naturally under the roof after harvest, and finally “a cup of coffee for the Taiwanese” is borne.
