Situated along the coastline of Kaohsiung City at Oyster Village Fishing Port, the TzuKuan Fishermen’s Association resides in a port that has evolved from a small oyster farming village into a bustling hub of fishing activity.
Introduction
To help visitors fully experience the industry, culture, and ecological beauty of TzuKua, the association’s management team established the “Oyster Village Port Tourism Fish Market” and the “Romantic Oyster Village Specialty Store” in 2008. These attractions draw tens of thousands of visitors every weekend, fueling local economic growth.

The Oyster Village Fish Market has implemented the HACCP system in its sales management, introducing five flow controls (human, logistics, water, air, and vehicle) to reduce seafood contamination risks. Entry requires strict disinfection, and seafood is immediately sorted, prepared, and auctioned upon arrival. Once sold, it is processed and distributed quickly to ensure freshness and safety. Thanks to a well-organized auction system, fishing vessels from Kaohsiung, Fangliao, Penghu, Tainan, Pingtung, and nearby areas choose to trade here. Fishing boats begin arriving by noon, and auctions kick off at 12 PM, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Currently, this market is the sales leader of freshly caught seafood in Taiwan.
Features of Agricultural Tourism
Fish Farming
All freshly caught seafood is certified with a “Certificate of Origin” and managed with traceable QR codes, having achieved CAS certification to ensure quality control. To further improve the safety and quality of local fish products, the association has also obtained HACCP and ISO22000 certification. Visitors can purchase the freshest seafood at the “Oyster Village Seafood Direct Sales Center” and then have it prepared by local restaurants, offering a seamless dining experience!
In 2014, the “Romantic Oyster Village” brand was launched, combining “cultural tourism, ecological education, and seafood gastronomy.” The area features six main zones: “Frozen Seafood,” “Mullet Roe Specialty,” “Snack Foods,” “Premium Gift Sets,” “Agricultural and Fisheries Products,” and “Fish Education.” The unique packaging of local products has won numerous domestic and international design awards, promoting Kaohsiung’s vibrant fishing village culture on a global scale.
